It’s been billed as one of the 25 Best Bike Rides in the World by Outside Magazine and a Top Five Gravel Event by Global Cycling Network.
Rebecca’s Private Idaho is back this Labor Day Weekend challenging cyclists to ride some of Idaho’s premier gravel bike routes.
The event kicked off on Thursday with a race at Baker Creek and heads up Dollarhide Summit today before the Main Event on Sunday, which includes a 102.9-mile Baked Potato race, 56-mile French Fry race and 18.9-mile Tater Tot race up Trail Creek Summit.
Saturday is a rest day and the Riders’ Expo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Atkinson Park in Ketchum.
Idaho’s Potato Olympics and Skills Competition will be held from 11:30 to 1 p.m. that day.
The Potato Olympics was created by Aerah Hardin, executive director of Be Good Foundation. She created the Cheese Ball Olympics Games and decided to adapt the event to include Idaho’s famous potatoes upon moving to Idaho. The competition features two-person teams in a silly single-elimination tournament.
The Be Good $5 Happy Hour will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Lisa Congdon Momentum Art Show storytelling and photography event will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Ketchum’s Forest Service Park across from the Limelight Hotel.
On Sunday the elite riders will begin rolling out from Champions Meadow on Sun Valley Road at 8 a.m. They’ll be followed by the French Fry and Tater Tot riders.
The Festival Day/Expo, open to the public, will be held at Champions Meadow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with live music, food trucks, games, vendors and the 3:30 p.m. awards ceremony.
The event benefit’s Rebecca Rusch’s Be Good Foundation, which benefits global, national and local nonprofit organizations that use the bicycle to improve health and overall well-being, boost economies and protect the planet.
