A sendoff for District 26 Sen. Ron Taylor will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Hailey Town Center, 116 S. River Street.

The event, hosted by the Blaine, Lincoln and Jerome County Democrats, will feature an opportunity to hear Taylor’s assessment of the upcoming legislative session. There’ll be a chance for questions.

Light refreshments will be served, and attendees are invited to bid on silent auction items donated by local businesses.

The Idaho Legislature will launch on Monday, Jan. 12.

Legislators are expected to offer bills repealing the Medicaid expansion that voters approved in 2018, a reform of the child custody system and cost-cutting measures inspired by DOGE that could include removing state funding from the Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs.

They also will need to incorporate the Working Families Tax Cut Act, otherwise known as the Big Beautiful Bill, into Idaho’s tax code.
