The Community School Cutthroats knew they had their work cut out facing the state’s No. 2 ranked team Tuesday afternoon in the District IV Tournament in Shoshone.
The Dietrich Blue Devils came out of the gate hot, hitting six of their first seven shots, including four 3-point shots. They grabbed a 14-point lead by the end of the first quarter.
Still, the Cutthroats hung tough, outscoring Dietrich 10-8 in the second quarter to cut the gap to 12 points at the half.
Unfortunately for Community School fans who traveled to Shoshone for the game, the Blue Devils went on a 22-4 scoring run to start the third period and put the game away.
Final score: 71-33 in favor of Dietrich.
Dan Dufur had 12 points, Garrett Rawlings 7 points, Keegan Whitelaw 6 points, and Jackson Dies and Henry Pollock, 4 points each.
