Youngsters in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to a hands-on science day at the Rinker Rock Creek Ranch west of Hailey.
Science in the Sagebrush will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 13. Youngsters will learn about rangeland soil, plants, livestock and the place of fire on the range.
While the event is geared towards youth, everyone is welcome.
All events are free and take place at the Rock Creek Ranch Barn. Camp chairs, closed-toed shoes long pants and hats are recommended.
To get there drive west out of Hailey on Bullion Street and continue as it turns into Croy Creek Road. Follow this 4.5 miles to the large metal sculpture of an elk at the Rock Creek Road turn. Follow this another 6.5 miles to the barn.
The event is sponsored by The Nature Conservancy, Wood River Land Trust, Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation, University of Idaho Rangeland Center and Idaho Rangeland Resources Commission.
