Robyn Watson and Leslie Doheny-Hanks recently made a year-end donation from the proceeds of their “Sun Valley Commemorative Quarantine Cookbook” to two first responder organizations.
They wrote out checks based on funds raised through the sale of the cookbook to the Wood River Fire and Rescue and Ketchum Sun Valley Volunteer Association, which supports Sun Valley’s fire and rescue services.
The two sisters asked friends and the community to submit recipes they’d been cooking during the stay-at-home order in the Wood River Valley during March and April.
Seven participants and nearly 200 recipes later, they compiled, edited and produced the cookbook as a thank you for some of the front-line workers during the pandemic.
The books are for sale at retail stores throughout the valley, including Atkinsons’ Markets, Brass Ranch, Chapter One Book Store, The Haven, Ketchum Kitchens, Silver Creek Outfitters, Sun Valley Lodge Gift Shop and Signature Shop, Sun Valley Culinary Institute, Village Market and Willow Papery.
And the sisters are trying to compile a second cookbook—“The Sun Valley Post-Pandemic Celebratory Cookbook.” They hope to release it next spring, even if the pandemic isn’t quite over. Send your recipe to Sunvalleycookbook@yahoo.com.
