Sun Valley Resort will kick off its new River Run Summer Series on Wednesday, July 20.

Three Wednesday evenings of fun will follow through Aug. 17.

The event—from 4 to 7 p.m. each Wednesday except for Aug. 10--is designed to gather community at the base of Bald Mountain for live music, lawn games, family-friendly activities such as trivia games, scavenger hunts and art projects, food trucks and beverages.

Lift service on the gondola will be extended an additional two hours on those Wednesdays until 6 p.m. for those wanting to enjoy lift-assisted biking and hiking.

And each Summer Series event will feature a community partner—a local nonprofit that will be the beneficiary of 15 percent of all lift ticket sales that day.

The lineup:

  • July 20—Live music with the Mark Mueller Trio. Proceeds will benefit NAMI-WRV, which will lead a bubble art activity. Pete Lane’s bike shop will offer free bike inspections and clinics on how to change a flat tire.
  • July 27—Moonshine Schubert will provide the entertainment. Proceeds will benefit the Wood River Trails Coalition, which will host trail trivia and other games. Smith will show off its new helmets and sport glasses.
  • Aug. 3—Travis McDaniels will provide live music. Proceeds will benefit She Jumps, an organization designed to engage young girls in skiing and other outdoor activities. The group will lead an activity at the base of the mountain, while Wild Rye leads a women’s ride on Baldy.
  • Aug. 17—The Pisten Bullys will jam on stage and Norco bikes will provide free bike demos all evening. The beneficiary will be the National Forest Foundation’s Bald Mountain Stewardship Project, which is in the midst of a multi-year project to improve the health of Bald Mountain’s forests by removing diseased and dead trees and replanting new ones. Representatives of that initiative will lead a hands-on activity teaching about reforestation.

Food trucks will include Joe’s Juice, KB’s Burritos, Wood Fire Pizza & Grill and the Snow Cone Truck.
