David Yarrow is a Scottish-born fine-art photographer, conservationist and author. And he, like many Europeans, is fascinated with The Wild West.

Yarrow incorporates old Western nostalgia, themes and iconic images, such as recognizable models and distinguished locations, in his staged photographs of “The Wild West.”

And, as a featured artist at Broschofsky Galleries, he will share the backstories behind his images at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at the gallery.

The Artist Talk and slide show will be at Broschofsky Galleries, 360 East Ave., in Ketchum. A reception featuring cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.

Yarrow was a photographer for The London Times when he took an iconic picture of Diego Maradona holding the World Cup at the World Cup Final in Mexico City. That led to assignments to cover the Olympics and other sporting events.

Many years later he established himself as one of the best-selling fine art photographers in the world. His large monochrome images are on display in galleries and museums across Europe and North America, and his limited edition works regularly sell at high prices at Sotheby’s.

His work has also raised more than $4.5 million for philanthropic and conservation organizations, with his photograph “The Wolves of Wall Street” breaking records at Art Miami in December 2019. One print signed by Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, sold for $200,000 with the proceeds going to conservation NGOs supported by DiCaprio.

His photos include a wolf in a convertible; a “Happy Hour” shot at a Western bar featuring an assorted bunch of characters, including a one-eyed cowboy on a horse, and a cowboy riding down the streets of Telluride.

Catch ‘em at Broschofsky Galleries.
