Mountain Humane assisted a record 3,296 animals during 2022. And it placed 642 dogs and cats in their forever homes.

The animal welfare organization west of Hailey released its 2022 Annual Report this week. And it showed that the non-profit organization accepted 436 animals from under-resourced shelters, reunited 202 lost animals with their families and rescued 86 dogs from seven hoarding or mistreatment situations.

The veterinary clinic provided 4,700 vaccinations, 1,343 spay/neuter surgeries, microchipped 697 animals, performed 144 dental procedures and provided other veterinary services at reduced cost for families who could not afford care for their pets.

It assisted nearly 400 families with pet food, and 364 pets participated in behavioral training to help avoid surrender.

Director Christine Ferguson said the work is made possible by donors.

"Our donors are our lifeline, supporting, with their generosity, all the services we offer," she said. "We deeply appreciate every dollar contributed to help give our animals a second chance."
Kelly Mitchell, senior director of Shelter Operations and Outreach, also praised the dozens of volunteers who assist with a variety of chores, including dog walking.

"Volunteers have a huge role at Mountain Humane. The commitment of our hundreds of volunteers to help save the lives of homeless and vulnerable animals is truly amazing," she said. "Many animals spent time in our foster program, including puppies and kittens, giving them a better chance for a happy, healthy life."

The shelter has launched a new website to better assist viewers in viewing available animals and accessing pet support services. It can be seen at https://mountainhumane.org/

SHOPPING FOR THE DOGS

J. McLaughlin in Ketchum had a Sip 'n Shop for Mountain Humane on Friday with 15 percent of all sales going to Mountain Humane. Sarah Howe said she would extend that offer for anyone who comes by and wishes Ted, the store mascot, a happy birthday today--Saturday, April 29--as well. "A win-win!" she said.
