More than 440 Blaine County veterans laid to rest at the Hailey Cemetery will be honored during the 22nd Annual Hailey Memorial Day Ceremony.

The ceremony will start at 11 a.m. Monday, May 29, at the cemetery, 511 East Maple St.

The Mountain Home Air Force Base Honor Guard and the Idaho Army National Guard will take part. And local choir members will offer a medley of songs honoring the military.

Refreshments will be served during an Open House at the cemetery office following the ceremony.

The cemetery will be decorated through dusk Monday, with American flags and a carnation placed on every known veteran’s gravesite.

“Memorial Day is a day to share the memory and to honor of those whose lives were lost in defense of this great country,” said Geegee Lowe, who has organized the event for the past several years. “I hope people will take part in this community gathering in remembrance of our fallen Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines who we must never forget. It is a time we can thank them for their service and the freedoms they have given us.”
