St. Luke’s Health System has been recognized as a Joy in Medicine organization for its work initiating and building a systemwide well-being program.

The American Medical Association honors organizations that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to well-being within the work environment following the principles of the Joy in Medicine Health System Recognition Program.

It’s become necessary to improve and support the well-being of staff as burnout has spiked among physicians and other health care professionals, said Dr. Katie Schneider, St. Luke’s system medical director for provider well-being.

The Joy in Medicine Health System Recognition Program has honored more than a hundred organizations across the country since its inception in 2019.  Seventy-two health systems earned recognition for their efforts to reduce drivers of work-related burnout in 2023.
