Mother Nature has been stingy with powder days the past few weeks, but Sun Valley Heli Ski can find powder stashes for those who need their powder fix.
It’s offering some special deals through Wednesday for locals and visitors. Sun Valley Heli Ski is offering a full day of skiing for $1,250 today through Wednesday, Jan. 22.
It is also offering a 20 percent discount to business owners and managers who can fill a group of four for an entire day for the rest of the season. The business always offers a 20 percent discount to military. The heli ski operation also offers day-before $1,000 seats for standby skiers.
Each run typically ranges from 1,000 to 3,000 vertical feet. Guests are provided with avalanche transceivers, avalanche airbags and lunch.
Terrain can accommodate intermediate and expert skiers and riders.
Guests typically leave from the Sun Valley Gun Club off Sun Valley/Trail Creek Road after instruction on using avalanche equipment. The helicopter started the season off flying to the backside of Durrance Mountain north of Ketchum.
Sun Valley Heli Ski—the oldest helicopter ski operator in the lower 48 states with 50 years under its rotors--is under new ownership with Alexx Kittrell, a long time heli ski guide for Sun Valley Heli Ski and in Alaska.
