Sun Valley’s three-time Olympian Jake Adicoff added three World Championship medals to his trophy case at the just-ended 2025 FIS Para Cross Country World Championships in Toblach, Italy.
Peter Wolter, Adicoff’s teammate on the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation Gold Team, guided Adicoff to a gold medal in the 20-kilometer Freestyle Mass Start.
And Bridger Ski Foundation Pro Team athlete Reid Goble guided him to a gold medal in the 10K Classical Interval Start and a silver medal in the Mixed Sprint Relay.
Both Adicoff and Wolter grew up in the Wood River Valley, racing for the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation.
“There is something special about the 2025 Para Nordic World Championships,” said Becky Flynn, SVSEF XC Program Director. “Not only did Jake ski away with three medals in the Visually Impaired category, but his teammate and friend Peter Wolter was able to be part of it all. The idea to have Peter guide Jake just made sense. It is so rewarding to see them work together as teammates and win on the biggest stage in the world!”
Wolter and Adicoff grew up together in the Wood River Valley through the SVSEF Cross Country Program and are now racing and training with the SVSEF XC Gold Team.
“I knew that Jake was a seriously good skier, but on his way to winning Friday’s skate 20k at Para World Champs in Toblach, Jake was on a new level,” said Peter Wolter, SVSEF XC Gold Team. “The opportunity to guide is pretty cool because it’s the closest we get to making cross country skiing a team sport. The Jake and Peter duo seems to work quite well on the race course, given that we’re nearly always training together throughout the year on and off the snow, all over the world, with the SVSEF Gold Team.”
Wolter and Goble also race with their respective teams on the National and International cross country skiing circuits.
“Being at world champs with Jake, Peter and Reid was a great experience,” said Peter Holmes, SVSEF XC Gold Team Head Coach. “It was great to be there to support them with coaching and ski support. It’s nice to be able to wax for people who you spend a lot of time with because you really start to understand their ski preference and their ski fleet. Having the right skis is important for winning races. Can’t wait for the rest of Jake and Peter’s races together this season!”
Coming up for Adicoff and Wolter is the 2015 FIS Nordic World Championships in Trondheim, Norway, where they will compete in the Para Cross Country Sprint race on March 4-5. The qualifier will be held on March 4 and the rounds on March 5.
