Beethoven’s score of a noblewoman of Seville who goes to a dungeon disguised as a boy to find her husband will take the stage at The Metropolitan Opera on Saturday.

And Sun Valley-area residents can see “Fidelio” on the big screen when Sun Valley Opera and Broadway screens the Met Live in HD.

The show starts at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Merlin’s Magic Lantern Cinema in Ketchum. It runs 3 hours and 5 minutes. Tickets are $20 and $22, available at the door by credit card. The concession stand will be open.

It will feature renowned Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen as the noblewoman Lenore, who disguises herself as Fidelio to venture into the dungeon a second time, hopeful of saving her husband after she learns that his adversary has ordered a grave to be dug for him. Her husband is a political prisoner, imprisoned during a time of political upheaval following the French Revolution.

Davidsen starred as Puccini’s “Tosca” in a Live in HD performance in November 2024.

Veteran bass Rene Pape returns to the Met as Rocco, having last appeared in 2021 in the title role of Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov.” Tenor David Butt Philip stars as Florestan, his last Live in HD performance as Laertes in “Hamlet.”

Bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny makes his Met debut as Don Pizarro.

The cast also includes soprano Ying Fang, tenor Magnus Dietrich and bass Stephen Milling, who sings the role of Don Fernando. Grammy Award-nominated conductor Susanna Malkki of Finland will conduct Jurgen Flimm’s production, and Gary Halvorson will direct it.

This is the final Met Live in HD performance of the 2024-25 season.
