Tunes from “West Side Story” and “Sound of Music” will fill the air as the Wood River Orchestra celebrates Mother’s Day with a free concert of music from Broadway shows and Hollywood musicals.

The concert will start at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 11, in the Wood River High School Performing Arts Theater at the Community Campus in Hailey.

It will feature selections from “Hamilton,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Wicked” and “Chicago,” in addition to “West Side Story” and “Sound of Music.”

Attendees are invited to purchase raffle tickets ahead of time for the orchestra’s Mother’s Day Raffle that includes a bundle of Mother’s Day treats, including a $100 gift certificate from Tundra restaurant, a $100 floral arrangement from Yellow House Floral, champagne, wine and hairstyling.

Tickets are $10, available online at https://www.wrcorchestra.org/mothers-day-2025/. The winner will be announced at the concert but you do not need to be present to win.

“Our concert on Mother’s Day last year was a great success,” said conductor Brad Hershey, “And we thought that Broadway was a perfect follow up to the movie theme of that concert. There are tunes in this program that everyone in the family will recognize. We encourage children to bring their mothers and mothers to bring their children, and don’t forget the dads too!”
