Girls on the Run is looking for runners and volunteers to take part in the annual Color Me Fearless 5K on May 31.
The family-friendly 3.1-mile fun run is meant to celebrate Girls on the Run Wood River’s spring season and welcome the start of summer in colorful fashion, given the powdered paint participants will be showered with as they run or walk the course.
It will start at 10 a.m. Hailey Elementary. DJ Marlin will provide live music, there’ll be food from food trucks and there will be interactive field games.
“The Color Me Fearless 5K is a joyful celebration of everything our program stands for—courage, friendship, and the unstoppable strength of girls in our community,” said Teressa Johnson, executive director of Girls on the Run Southern Idaho. “We’re excited to bring together families, friends, and neighbors for a memorable day of fun and fitness.”
Fees start at $20. Proceeds from the event will support the Girls on the Run Southern Idaho scholarship and shoe fund, which ensures that every girl who wishes to participate in the program can do so regardless of financial circumstance.
Girls on the Run empowers girls in third through eighth grade with games and exercises that develop confidence and self-esteem, empathy and leadership skills.
