STORY AND PHOTO BY KAREN BOSSICK

The Blaine County Education Foundation will host a free Spooktacular movie night at the Liberty Theater on Thursday, Oct. 23.

The evening will feature Disney Pixar’s “Coco.” The movie follows young Miguel who dreams of becoming a musician despite his family’s generations-old ban on music. On his journey he finds himself in a colorful Land of the Dead with a tagalong trickster named Hector who helps him unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

Kids are encouraged to wear costumes. There also will be a raffle packed with prizes.

For free tickets, go to https://www.tickettailor.com/events/thelibertytheater/1839620.

The Blaine County Education Foundation helps school children with the funds they need to play football or attend a robotics competition. It’s helped teachers purchase supplies for theater productions and send kids to mental wellness conferences.

With donor support, it also provided a grant to fund a librarian for the 2025 SummerBridge Camp, which helped 282 Blaine County students prevent the summer slide in reading. And with the help of the Papoose Club, Cox Communications, Hailey Rotary, Kiwanis and  Power Engineers it provided 468 students with new backpacks stuffed with pencils and other school supplies at the start of the school year.

The foundation has committed to raising $300,000 in three years to ensure every student has access to school meals in a county where nearly 40 percent of students struggle with food insecurity.
