The just-finished Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina crowned the fastest downhillers, the most precise slalom skiers and the best mogul skiers.

But no one did it all.

That’s what Sun Valley Resort is asking skiers to do in the inaugural Sun Valley Stampede that will be held March 14-15.

Skiers will be asked to take on a race involving traditional ski racing, skier cross, terrain park features and ungroomed off-piste to earn the title of the Best Skier in the West. And there will be live music and other party attractions at the base of Warm Springs.

Learn all about it on Wednesday when Jake Moe, the founder of “POWDER” magazine; Sun Valley’s Riley Berman, who oversaw the 2025 World Cup Finals preparation for Sun Valley, and Sun Valley Ski & Ride School Director Stephen Helfenbein offer the details for the head-to-head competition.

The three will talk at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at The Community Library in Ketchum.

Kristine Bretall, the community engagement manager for the Wood River History + Culture Museum, will also offer an introduction about the history of ski racing in Sun Valley.

Save an in-person seat at https://thecommunitylibrary.libcal.com/event/15981744. Or, watch it online at https://vimeo.com/event/5754704.

The program also will be recorded and available to watch later at The Library’s Event Archive.

WANT TO COMPETE IN THE STAMPEDE?

The Stampede is open to four groups—12 and under; 13-17; 18-40, and 41-plus. Sign up at https://www.sunvalley.com/events/sun-valley-stampede/
