Jazz in the Park aims to get back on track on Sunday, after last week’s cancellation due to forecasted rains that never came.

The free concert will feature Michelle Eastland & Menagerie from Boise. It will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 5, in Ketchum’s Rotary Park across from the Wood River YMCA. Attendees are invited to bring picnics and low back chairs.

Eastland sings familiar songs that cover genres of rhythm and blues, rock, soul and jazz—all with a strong sense of rhythm, said organizer Will Caldwell.

“Her stage presence is quite compelling,” he added.

Even though last week’s concert starring New York cabaret singer Adrienne Haan didn’t happen, Haan was able to raise $3,600 for Jazz in the Park through her Tehorah peace concert Tuesday night at the Wood River Jewish Synagogue.

“I am particularly proud because the synagogue is a small 140-seat venue and yet we were able to raise this sum,” Haan said. “We sold out to the last seat and people were overwhelmed by the similarity of Weimar Berlin, Germany‘s first democracy that was shattered by the Nazi Regime in 1933 and current times USA. We reminded people that our democracy is not to be taken for granted but needs a constant effort from us, the people, to save it.”

Funds raised from the concert will be given to Caldwell to produce next year’s Jazz in the Park. Alan Pennay provided the piano and Alan Hogg produced the show.
