The performance of redband trout in Idaho’s different ecosystems will be discussed during a virtual presentation of Trout Unlimited-Hemingway Chapter at 6 tonight—Thursday, Jan. 7—on Zoom.

Redband Trout is a subspecies of the rainbow trout—the Columbia River Redband Trout is found in Idaho, Montana and Washington.

It’s similar in appearance to the rainbow trout but has larger, more rounded spots and parr marks and, frequently, an orange cutthroat mark under the jaws. Gil covers can be brilliant red.

Brian Small, director of the Aquaculture Research Institute of the University of Idaho, will be the presenter. ARI has world-class facilities in Hagerman and Moscow.

Small has published more than a hundred articles related to fish physiology and is internationally recognized as a leader in his field.
