The South Central Public Health District has compiled some information to help those over the age of 65 navigate the pathway to getting a COVID-19 vaccine.

How to make an appointment:

• Option 1: Sign up on a waitlist to receive a vaccine at your nearest public health office: https://www.phd5.idaho.gov/Covid-vaccine/Or call the COVID-19 hotline to sign up on that waitlist: 208-737-1138
• Option 2: Call your medical provider and ask if they are offering the vaccine, or choose from a list of providers on the SCPHD website at https://www.phd5.idaho.gov/Covid-vaccine/

  Here’s what they have to say:

  It’s safe. Even under emergency conditions, the FDA will only approve vaccines for release when they have evidence the vaccines are safe.

  It’s effective. It's the most effective way to prevent getting COVID-19. Even if you get the disease, these vaccines will help prevent serious illness.

  It’s free. The vaccine is covered by federal funds. Providers may be able to charge an office visit fee but this is covered by insurance or state funds.

  It has minimal side effects. Millions of Americans have received the vaccine and have had little to no side effects. Fever, and body aches are safe and normal reactions to a vaccine.
