The Sun Valley Culinary Institute is hosting an open house for prospective students. And it’s inviting interested students to take part in a cook-off competition, in which they can win scholarships.

  • The Culinary Institute will host a prospective student open house from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, March 5.

Prospective students and parents will have the opportunity to learn more about the Institute’s unique one-year professional culinary arts program that will start next fall. They’ll also be able to tour the facility and meet faculty.

  • The Culinary Institute has launched a Recipe Contest for graduating Idaho high school seniors who are interested in a career in the culinary arts and in attending the Sun Valley Culinary Institute next fall.

The four top entries will be invited to compete in a cook-off competition April 11 with each of the finalists receiving a scholarship to the Culinary Institute.

Entrants must submit a recipe, photo of the prepared dish and a signed entry form to SVCI via email at info@sunvalleyculinary.org.

The recipe must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be an original Main Course recipe developed by the entrant

2. Yields four (4) portions

3. Must be written clearly with detailed instructions

4. Includes a minimum of one locally sourced ingredient

5. Prepared within 90 minutes

6. Use as many fresh (non-processed) ingredients as possible.

Recipes, photos and completed entry forms must be emailed to SVCI by 6:00 PM MST on Monday, March 15, 2021. The top-four entries will then compete in a cook-off competition held at SVCI on April 11.

Each of the four finalists will receive a scholarship award to the Sun Valley Culinary Institute ranging from $6,750 to $1,500.
