Olympic Bronze Medalist Nathan Chen—a favorite in Sun Valley for many years--is among the champion figure skaters who will headline the 2021 Sun Valley on Ice Show.

Chen, a five-time U.S. gold medalist and 2021 World Gold Medalist, will perform on Sun Valley Resort’s outdoor ice rink July 3.

Other skaters so far:

July 17—Alysa Liu, two-time U.S. Gold Medalist

July 24—Mariah Bell, 2020 U.S. Silver Medalist and 2021 Skate America Gold Medalist

Aug. 7—To be announced

Aug. 21—Madison Chock and Evan Bates, 2020 U.S. Gold Medalists and 2021 U.S. Silver Medalists

Aug. 28—To be announced

Sept. 4—Jason Brown, 2021 U.S. Bronze Medalist, Olympic Bronze Medalist and U.S. Gold Medalist

Their performances will be supplemented with a variety of routines provided by other skaters, including children. Think: Skating with fire and comedy routines, among others.

The starting number, set to the song “Seasons of Love” from the musical “Rent,” is sure to tug at everyone’s heartstrings, said Scott Irvine, the producer of Sun Valley on Ice.

“We are beyond thrilled to welcome back the world-class ice shows this year,” added Irvine. “It’s truly a one-of-a-kind experience that features the best skaters performing under the stars in an unparalleled setting. As we’re emerging from such a difficult year, we’re excited to come together and experience the collective emotions of the skaters and their performances.”

This year’s Sun Valley on Ice will look different this year due to the pandemic. Grandstand sets will be sold in pod of two, four, six and eight to allow for social distancing.

The terrace will offer premier seating but no food will be served this year. Beverages will, however be available for purchase.

“Although the experience will look a little different from previous years, we are excited to host this iconic Sun Valley summer event once again,” said Bridget Higgins, director of Marketing and Public Relations for the Resort.

Seating for the shows will begin at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets for the July shows are now available at https://www.sunvalley.com/things-to-do/ice-shows/, by contacting  the Sun Valley recreation center at 208.622.2135 or emailing recreation@sunvalley.com.

Tickets for the August and September shows will be released in upcoming weeks.
