Music in Town Square will join the lineup of free summer concerts in Ketchum this coming week.
The Music in Town Square concerts will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays, beginning July 7 and running through Aug. 25, in Ketchum Town Square.
The series kicks off with Nick Dellfs, who performs a blend between Townes Van Zandt and James Brown.
Others include:
July 14—Hillfolk Noir, a Boise group that performs what they call “junkerdash”—part folk, part bluegrass, part string-band blues, part punk and Western swing on musical saw, washboard, banjo.
July 21—Dan Costello, a Singer/songwriter who plays rootsy rock and soul with jazz, classical and folk undertones.
July 28—Richard Blair, a Stanley singer/songwriter who performs folk roots music, including sons titled “On the River of No Return,” “Stanley” and “Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch.”
Aug. 4—Victoria Vox, a Costa Mesa, Calif., singer who plays ukulele and mouth trumpeting
Aug. 11—Blaze & Kelly, a Boise duo that blends folk/rock harmonies, including some familiar tunes, like Simon Garfunkel’s “The Boxer” and Johnny Cash’s “I Walk the Line.” The two have opened for Crosby, Stills and Nash and Olivia Newton-John, among others.
Aug. 18—Wes Urbaniak, a Billings, Mont., mountain folk music artist.

- Jazz in the Park continues this Sunday, July 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Ketchum’s Rotary Park across from the Wood River Community YMCA. This Sunday’s concert will feature the Tony Galla Band. Tony is an exceptional jazz singer newly transplanted from L.A. to Boise, according to organizer Will Caldwell. He will be joined by some of Boise’s best jazz players.
- Tuesday’s Ketch’em Alive will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. IN ATKINSON PARK, rather than the usual Forest Service Park. The July 5 concert will feature Crosby and Golay, Idaho natives known for loud jams blending Americana and roots rock & roll.
Concertgoers are asked not to stake out their seats before 5 p.m. as there will be children’s summer camps in the park up until that time.
Check it out and make your opinion known. Atkinson Park is in the running to become a new venue for Ketch’em Alive concerts as it can better accommodate the crowds that have steadily grown over the years. In addition, the sound in Forest Service Park sometimes echoes off the surrounding buildings that now encircle the park so moving the concert venue to Atkinson Park could mitigate that problem.
