Residents in the Blaine County School District are being asked to go to the polls on Tuesday, Aug. 30, to vote on a Plant Facilities Levy.

If approved, the levy funds would be used to improve, maintain and repair existing buildings,  including roof repairs and replacements. Funds would also be applied to safety and security systems, as well as providing LED lighting, heating, ventilation and sanitation facilities, mechanical systems, appliances and technology upgrades.

The BCSD Board of Trustees established the School Plant Facilities Reserve Fund at its June 14 meeting. In doing so, the board determined there is a pressing need for a $5 million levy that, if approved by at least 55 percent of voters, would remain in place for the next five years. It would expire at the end of the 2026-27 school year.

The projects to be funded by the proposed Plant Facilities Levy were identified and prioritized through a comprehensive building conditions evaluation of all district facilities by the board’s Finance Advisory Committee.

If approved, the Plant Facilities Levy would have a property tax impact of up to $34.90 per year for every $100,000 of assessed taxable real property in the district. For more information, visit https://www.blaineschools.org/Page/4888
