Dancers in colorful regalia, including beads, bells, jingly metal cones and feathered bustles, will stomp and twirl across the stage of The Argyros on Wednesday.

That’s when Indigenous Liberation plans to enthrall the audience with songs, stories and dances led by champion pow wow dancers from the United States and Canada.

The dancers represent Turtle Island—the name given to the North American continent.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10. Tickets start at $20 and are available at https://theargyros.org/.

The intertribal production will include the Men’s Fancy War Dance, Jingle Dress, Chicken Dance, Grass Dance and Hoop Dance, which features nearly a dozen hoops. They will be accompanied by flute, drum and song.

Dancers will honor the legacies of elders in such tribes as Blackfoot, Omaha, Ojibwa, Taos Pueblo, Ponca and Cree.

Though rooted in tradition, expect to see some contemporary influences, such as hip hop.

The dancers have danced at Coachella and they’ve danced at the Sydney Opera House. They had a cameo in a “Stand up/Stand N Rock” music video created by Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas to halt the Dakota Access Pipeline. They also have appeared on the TV competition “World of Dance,” at a virtual inauguration parade for President Biden and at the National Basketball Association finals.
