Members of the Papoose Club baked more than 200 dozen cookies ranging from Santa Claus cornflake clusters to linzer torte cookies with jam in the center to molasses snowflake cookies. And they were a hot item as shoppers availed themselves of a baker’s dozen at the 2022 Holiday Bazaar on Saturday at Hemingway STEAM School in Ketchum. “We have more than 70 craftsmen and they’re all so creative,” said Bazaar Chair Kaz Thea. “Everything’s handmade and one of a kind and we’re supporting artists that work so hard.”

If you missed Saturday’s edition, never fear. The bazaar continues today from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. And Santa has penciled in the K-Town kids from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Lizzy Hughes, who recently moved to the Wood River Valley from Bend, Ore., hawked a line of Ski Bum underwear with a black diamond one marked “Expert and others featuring ski scenes. Adam Gulick boasted a line of beautiful photographs, puzzles, notecards and calendars featuring scenes he shot in the Sawtooth Mountains. Dianne Wright spun as she sold yarn wear. And CannAware consultant Valerie Woo hawked a line of earrings and CBD products as she told shoppers of the parties she holds for people to learn about and sample CBD products. Meanwhile, Sawtooth Circus School founder Paul Blair dared shoppers to try hula hooping while balancing on a balance board.

“I was in the circus for 10 years fulltime and five years parttime, and I still do my own show,” said Blair, who could juggle while hula hooping on the board. “I also teach classes at MOVE Studio in Ketchum, including hula hooping for adults and kids, a fitness class and a physical theater class. It’s kind of like a class for mimes but it pushes the box.” In addition to gift items, the Papoose Club raffle features a long, long list of items, including a 2022/23 Adult Season Ski Pass donated by Sun Valley Company, a month membership from the YMCA and a Nordic pass from the Blaine County Recreation District. Tickets are $5 each or $12 for $50, and winners will be drawn at the end of the bazaar. Winners need not be present to win. The Papoose Club will donate the money it raises from the Holiday Bazaar to various youth endeavors in the Wood River Valley.
