STORY AND PHOTO BY KAREN BOSSICK

Wood River Valley residents are invited to create a gingerbread house to raise money for their favorite nonprofit in Sun Valley Resort’s third annual Gingerbread House Contest.

The houses will be on display and open for voting from Saturday, Dec. 7, to Dec. 31 in The Boiler Room in Sun Valley Village.

Houses can be made by individuals, families, co-workers and others. The top three gingerbread houses will win between $1,000 and $3,000 for the nonprofit they were created for.

Most components must be edible, although builders can use a cardboard structure frame covered with edible items. Entries must include a title and a 50- to 200-word description of the organization the house was built for, as well as a website address for the public to find out more information about the organization.

Past gingerbread houses have included one shaped like Rapunzel’s tower, a Harry Pawter house and a country charm farm.
