STORY AND PHOTOS BY KAREN BOSSICK Alice first went down that rabbit hole 154 years ago. But her foray into Wonderland is no less magical today. And Sun Valley Community School students have endowed their version of Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland JR” with nice acting, great enunciations, rollicking choreography and colorful costumes.

A game of Simon Says with heads off for those who miss the cue takes the place of batting fuzzy hedgehogs through croquet hoops. But Alice is still befuddled by cookies that turn her too big or too small and a Mad Hatter who insists rules are not to be followed. Upper school student Abigail Sheerin has created a huge wardrobe of colorful costumes down to the Queen of Hearts’ dress of cards and the Caterpillar’s metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly. And seventh-grade Charlotte Andrews has done an equally colorful job in designing the set with giant playing cards that open each chapter to the revolving door which transforms Alice into too big or too little.

Bodin Lee and Paxton Sammis are a tongue-twisting, arm-twisting delight as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

The hour-long musical starts at 5 p.m. today—Saturday, April 27. Tickets are $5 for students and children and $10 for adults, available at the door.
