When Sun Valley’s groundskeepers removed the wooden structures containing the blocks of ice, the temperature was in the 40s—so warm that Mark Robert Sheehan and his son Sean couldn’t get started building the iconic Sun Valley ice sculpture in front of the Sun Valley Lodge.
But, happily, temperatures dropped into the single digits that night and the father-son duo finished up Mark’s 35th lodge ice sculpture in just a few days. As always, the question they got asked most: How do you do it?
