The Wood River Wolverines, looking for their first win of the young season, tipped off against the undefeated Mountain Home Tigers on Thursday night in Hailey.
Unfortunately, the Lady Wolverines became the latest victim of the dominating Lady Tigers, losing by a score of 59-17. Mountain Home (3-0) has beaten its first three opponents by an average of 40 points.
Mountain Home dominated from the outset, forcing Wood River (0-4) into several turnovers with an aggressive full-court press. On the rare occasion the Lady Wolverines got a good look at the basket, their shots didn’t fall. Wood River was more effective breaking the press in the second half, but they were unable to dig themselves out of the first-half hole.
Sophomore Payson Bennett led the Wood River scoring in the final contest for the Lady Wolverines before the holiday break. Next up is a home contest against the Twin Falls Lady Bruins on Tuesday, Nov. 28. Tip-off is 7:30 pm.
