On their home court in front of a packed student section, the Wood River Wolverines downed the Gooding Senators by a score of 47-28 Tuesday night in Hailey.
Sophomore point guard, Johnny Radford, led the scoring attack with 16 points, and senior forward Canyon MacDonald chipped in 13 points.
Neither team could buy a bucket early, and the Wolverines led by a score of 2-1 halfway through the first period. A Radford 3-pointer and a MacDonald basket gave the Wolverines a 7-1 lead at the end of the first period.
Wood River’s offense picked up in the second quarter behind two more Radford 3-point baskets, giving the Wolverines an 18-11 lead at the half.
After the halftime break, offense and defense both clicked as the home team pulled away from the Senators to win by 19 points.
Next up for the Wolverines is an away game against the Buhl Indians on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. They will then face the Filer Wildcats on Friday night in Filer with tip-off at 7:30 pm.
