They took to the hardcourt Wednesday night at The Wolverine Den wearing shoes, but there wasn’t a pair of high tops in sight.
Students and staff hopped on (and off) donkeys for the annual Donkey Basketball game, a fun-raiser to raise money for the safe and sober Senior Bash for graduating seniors from all schools in Blaine County.
The staff squad came home with the 18-13 victory over the seniors and juniors, relying on the still-present basketball skills of Wood River Alumnus Samantha Sutton and the donkey-whispering abilities of Joyce Pratt. Despite a plethora of varsity basketball players on the student squad, the youngsters could not overcome the cunning and guile of the experienced educators.
All players escaped unscathed, although there were moments that rivaled the 4th of July bull riding at the rodeo grounds down the street.
