Kristyn Rutland (Price) is arguably the greatest volleyball player to ever lace up sneakers for Wood River High School. After graduating, she went on to become a star for Albertson College, now The College of Idaho, where she was recently inducted into the College of Idaho’s Athletic Hall of Fame alongside basketball legend Elgin Baylor.
Rutland experienced tremendous success individually and as part of a team at Wood River. She set and still holds most of the school records in kills, digs and service aces. And the teams she played on won multiple district titles.
She led the Yotes at the College of Idaho to their first berth in the NAIA Championships, earning all-conference honors for four years. She also was named Conference Player of the Year as a senior and second-team All American that season, as well.
Now, the first-year head volleyball coach for the Wolverines wants to lead the current Wood River team to successes of their own. Listen to how she plans to do so in this interview with Eye on Sun Valley's Michael David.
