The Sun Valley Suns and the Jackson Hole Moose battled ferociously at The Campion Ice House this past weekend, with both teams picking up a victory.
The Moose beat the home team 4-2 on Friday night, and the Suns got revenge Saturday night, winning 6-3.
Both games were raucous sell-outs in the Ice House, which is currently limiting attendance to half capacity.
The Suns ran into a hot goaltender on Friday, and were unable to complete a comeback as The Moose scored an empty net goal to seal the victory for the visitors.
After the tough loss, The Suns came out with a vengeance Saturday night, jumping out to an early 3-0 lead early in the first period on goals by Spencer Brendel, Brandon McGovern, and Nick Curry.
Matt Cooper stymied The Moose’s attempts and prevented the rival Moose from mounting a comeback. The Suns tallied an empty net goal as the buzzer sounded, nabbing the 6-3 victory and a split of the two-game set.
The Suns will be back in action Jan. 7 and 8, 2022, as they take on the Santa Rosa Growlers in Hailey. As always, the puck drops at 7 p.m. at The Campion Ice House.
