The film “Mending the Line” will kick off the Sun Valley Film Festival’s new year-round program SVFF Monthly Movies on Thursday, May 25.
The film will be screened at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25, at The Argyros. Audiences will have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A with the film’s writer and director following the screening.
Tickets are $20, available online at https://theargyros.org/ or at the door.
The film follows a Marine who has just returned home after being wounded in Afghanistan. His doctor at the VA talks a Vietnam War veteran into teaching him to fly fish, hoping it will help the young Marine deal with his physical and emotional trauma while helping the Vietnam vet heal at the same time.
The movie won the Valor Award at the San Diego Film Festival. The award is given to military-themed films that convey the impact of war.
"We are excited to kick off our SVFF Monthly Movies series with an advance screening of the film 'Mending the Line,’ featuring the remarkable acting talent of Brian Cox,” said Festival Director Candice Pate. "This film captures a veteran's journey to resolution and peace through fly fishing and epitomizes the power of storytelling,'
Pate said the SVFF Monthly Movie series serves to cultivate a vibrant community of film enthusiasts and facilitate ongoing dialogue between filmmakers and audiences.
"And we're just getting started,” she said. “SVFF is dedicated to developing a breadth of programming that delivers a diverse spectrum of enriching initiatives to our community."
