The New York Times has called Hadleigh Adams “a muscular stud in head-to-toe skin-tight leather.”

A reviewer for operachaser.com fixated instead on his “deeply cavernous and adrenaline-rich baritone.”

Find out what stands out to you about this New Zealand baritone when he appears at two cabaret concerts on Thursday and Friday, March 1-2, at the Limelight Hotel in Ketchum.

Adams will perform his concert, “90 Minutes and Two Martinis Later,” for the general public at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 2.

The March 1 performance will be preceded by a Diva Party for Sun Valley Opera at 6 p.m. Guests will feast on appetizers before heading to the cabaret for the concert.

Adams has been featured in “Opera Newsmagazine” as a Soudbyte artist. He is renowned for his dynamic stage presence and ability to draw true, honest characters in his performances.

Hadleigh's repertoire spans from Baroque and Bel Canto through Britten and on to contemporary composition.

While studying at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, he made his debut at London’s Royal National Theatre singing the role of Christ in Jonathan Miller’s production of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion.

In an interview with  Huffington Post, Adams noted that his director Jonathan Miller was asked why before the show why he thought art was so important.

Miller did not reply with the oft-heard reply that art takes you to a place outside of yourself where you are transformed, Adams noted.

“Instead, he said that takes you to a place so deep within yourself that everything that has formed you and your opinions of the world has to be examined and looked at. You can’t see anything which transports you through any eyes other than your own,” Adams related.

Following his time in London, Adams moved to San Francisco to join the San Francisco Opera’s Merola Opera Program. He later became an Adler Fellow with San Francisco Opera. His final performance with the company was the role of Schaunard in “La Boheme.”

Hadleigh has also sung with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Oakland Symphony, Opera Pittsburgh, Cincinnati Opera, Opera Orlando and Opera Omaha.
