Learn about nativars—newly available native plants with enhanced characteristics.Then take a trip to Twin Falls to tour a nativar nursery.
Steven Paulson, owner of Native Roots, LLC, in Twin Falls, will discuss how to incorporate nativars into home landscapes from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 8, at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden, four miles south of Ketchum at Gimlet Road and Highway 75.
He will also discuss how these species help solve common issues like water conservation and pollinator decline, while enhancing beauty of the local landscape.
On Saturday, attendees are invited to carpool from the SBG to Native Roots nursery for a free tour of the site. University of Idaho scientists Dr. Steve Love will discuss his groundbreaking nativar research at that time. Those attending should meet at the garden at 8:30 a.m. to arrange carpooling.
Friday’s presentation costs $10 for garden members and $12 for nonmembers. Attendees can preregister at www.sbgarden.org. Saturday’s field trip is free.
