Lawn seats are now available for the second annual Ballet Sun Valley Festival, which will be held July 17 and 18 at the Sun Valley Pavilion.

The festival, sponsored by Viking, will feature Isabella Boylston, who got her start dancing in Sun Valley before going on to star with the American Ballet Theatre, along with many more internationally celebrated dancers, musicians and choreographers. Among them, Misty Copeland, who captured the fancy of dozens of youngsters who thrilled to last year’s performances.

The show will feature two completely different mixed repertoires performed by 22 of the world’s most elite dancers from Paris Opera Ballet, The Royal Danish Ballet, The Royal Swedish Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet and San Francisco Ballet.

Martin West, famed orchestra conductor for the San Francisco Ballet, will lead a live orchestra to accompany the performances.

The July 17 repertoire will feature “Flower Festival in Genazo: Pas de Deux” by August Bournonville; “The Dream: Pas de Deux” by Fredrick Ashton; “Depuis Le Jour” by Gemma Bond, who choreographed last year’s original piece commemorating the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse, and “Romeo & Juliet: Balcony Pas de Deux, Act 1” by Sir Kenneth MacMillan.

Also, “In the Middle Somewhat Elevated,” by William Forsythe; “Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux” by George Balanchine; “Solo for Patricia” by Pam Tanowitz; “Other Dances” by Jerome Robbins and “Dying Swan” by Mikhail Fokine, danced by Misty Copeland.

The July 18 repertoire will include “Beir Halle” by Ethan Stiefel; “For Pixie” by Danielle Rowe, “Manon: Act 1-Bedroom Pas de Deux” by Sir Kenneth MacMillan; “The Leaves are Fading” by Anthony Tudor; “Wallflower” by James Whiteside; “Sonatine” by George Balanchine; “After the Rain: Pas de Deux” by Christopher Wheeldon, and “In Creases” by Justin Peck.

Dancers include American Ballet Theatre’s Stella Abrera, Isabella Boylston, Misty Copeland, Gillian Murphy, Christine Shevchekno, Cory Stearns, James Whiteside, Calvin Royal II, Cassandra Trenary, Aran Bell, Tyler Maloney, Lauren Post, Gabe Stone Shayer and Paulina Waski.

Also, New York city Ballet’s Tiler Peck, Paris Opera Ballet’s Leonore Baulac and Germain Louvet; The Royal Danish Ballet’s Ida Praetorius; The Royal Swedish Ballet’s Dmitry Zagrebin; San Francisco Ballet’s Dores Andre and Joseph Walsch and freelance artist Patricia Delgado.

Tickets inside the Pavilion are still available but selling briskly

Cost for lawn seat tickets are $25; children 10 and under will be admitted free but must have a ticket for entry.

Lawn seating will provide event viewing via a Jumbotron, which will simulcast the performances with an orchestrated video feed from multiple cameras inside the pavilion tent.

“We are excited to make this exceptional event accessible to everyone,” said Laura Musbach Drake, the festival director.

Tickets can be purchased online at SunValley.Ticketfly.com: http://sunvalley.ticketfly.com/ or by calling the box office at 208-622-2135.

DAY OF DANCE EDUCATION

Ballet Sun Valley Festival will again offer free dance classes for aspiring young dancers taught by festival dancers on July 19. Isabella Boylston will also give a talk about her journey from her hometown of Sun Valley to Lincoln Center where she reached the top of her profession as Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre.

Students must apply by June 30. Applications are available online at www.BalletSunValley.com.
