Idaho Power crews will begin the process of moving overhead power lines underground in the vicinity of Gem and Main Streets today. Traffic may be slowed in that and other construction areas intermittently during the project, which is scheduled to be completed by mid-December.
Crews will install electrical equipment underground at the southern entrance to Ketchum and along the west side of Highway 75 The work requires crossing the road in three locations.
The project is related to the building of a hotel at the southeast corner of Main and River streets, said Julie Stutts Baker, a spokesperson for Idaho Power.
The project also involves installation of new underground conductsors and devices, along with an overhead electrical system in the spring.
