Those planning to attend this year’s Lunafest can get $10 off their tickets if they purchase them through Thursday, Nov. 15. Just go to https://www.girlsontherunwrv.org/lunafest and use the promo code EarlyBird.

Lunafest, a fundraising film festival hosted by Girls on the Run of the Wood River Valley, will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the new Argyros Performing Arts Center in Ketchum.

The festival features nine films by women about women told through animation, fictional drama and documentary.

They cover such topics as body image, relationships, cultural diversity, breaking barriers and women’s health.

Proceeds will benefit Girls on the Run of the wood River Valley and Chicken & Egg Pictures, a nonprofit organization that supports women whose innovative storytelling catalyzes social change.

Lunafest, created by LUNA nutrition bar for women, has raised more than $3 million for nonprofit organizations across the United States and Canada.

“As an organization concerned about how our young girls view themselves as individuals and as a part of the world, we really appreciate this opportunity to share so many different types of stories as are represented in the Lunafest series,” said Mary Fauth, executive director of Girls on the Run.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a red carpet reception featuring beverages and appetizers and a silent auction. The movies start at 6:30 p.m.

Silent auction items include ski passes, sports equipment, women’s clothing and accessories and getaways. Bidders can bid from the comfort of their home via www.lunafestauction.org.

In addition, one lucky girl will read her essay “What empowers you to pursue you dream?” Submissions are being accepted through Dec. 3 at mary@girlsontherunwrv.org and should include an original photo taken by the contestant and a 100-word essay. The essay should tell how the prize—a $200 Visa gift card—will enable the author to attain their dream.

Regular movie tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for students and seniors if purchased in advance at Iconoclast Books in Hailey, The Elephant’s Perch in Ketchum and online at girlsontherunwrv.org/lunafest. They’ll be $40/$25 at the door.

Red carpet tickets, which include wine, beer, appetizers, a souvenir gift and entry in the Pamper Me raffle, cost $60 in advance and $75 at the door.
