Former senator and Secretary of State John Kerry will discuss his new memoir “Every Day is Extra” at The Community Library on Dec. 22.
The free conversational presentation will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, and is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
The lecture will be Livestreamed online at www.comlib.org for those who wish to watch from the comfort of their home or from afar.
Kerry’s New York Times bestseller, released this fall, offers a candid account of his life of public service from his highly decorated stint in the Vietnam War where he served in the U.S. Navy to his stint as U.S. Secretary of State during the Obama administration. It includes a look at his 28 years as a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts, which began in 1984, and his run for President in 2004.
Kerry tried to find peace in the Middle East, combated ISIS and negotiated the Iran nuclear deal and the Paris climate agreement as Secretary of State.
Kerry, who lives in Sun Valley part-time, provides insights into some of the most pivotal moments and powerful personalities of the past 50 years of American history, including Teddy Kennedy and John McCain, in his book.
He will answer questions from the audience and sign books being provided for the event from Chapter One Bookstore after the program.
“Secretary Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry are inspirational leaders around the world and also right here in the Wood River Valley where they have a long history,” said Jenny Emery Davidson, executive director of The Community Library. “We are thrilled to have Secretary Kerry engage with the local community here in the library’s Lecture Hall, the community’s living room.”
