They’re the couple next door. And right off the bat Bob Jones and his wife Jennifer realize that John and Pony Jones have last names in common.
As they discuss their lives—"the truths we think we know and the secrets we never imagined we might share”—they find they have even more in common. And as their relationships begin to intertwine, they must decide between their idyllic fantasies and their imperfect realities.
Meet the Joneses on Thursday, Sept. 12, when Sawtooth Productions in association with Laughing Stock Theater presents a free play reading of Will Eno’s “The Realistic Joneses.”
The 100-minute reading starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Bailey Studio at the Argyros Performing Arts Center in Ketchum. Complimentary wine and cookies will be served.
The cast includes Courtney Loving, Charlotte Hemmings, Chris Carwithen and Jon Kane. Kane is the director.
The play debuted on Broadway in 2014 after premiering at Yale Repertory Theatre and was recently named by The New York Times as one of the top 20 plays of the last 20 years.
It’s an existential comedy that finds darkness, sweetness and hilarity in our fleeting and ordinary days as we seek to reveal ourselves and conceal ourselves, often in the same minute.
“Plays as funny and moving, as wonderful and weird as ‘The Realistic Joneses’ do not appear often on Broadway. Or ever, really….” Said a New York Times review.
