The Sun Valley Invitational has brought unique art and fashion from throughout the United States during three days in August for several years. This is its first winter show.
Artists are:
- Sun Valley artist Lisa Holley, who is known for her “You Are What You Eat,” animal series. She will be exhibiting scarves featuring her work and her newest art works, including those of penguins.
- Filip Vogelpohl of Boise will be showcasing his glass art. Vogelpohl, born in Prague, fled to the United States as a refugee in 1987 and grew up in Boise where he now owns Boise Art Glass. He has studied with such greats as Casare Toffolo in Murano, Italy, and his custom-ordered chandeliers are found in many restaurants and homes.
- Cathryn Pepin-Martinez, who lives in Colorado, creates jewelry and fine wearable art, including such luxury items as a South Sea button pearl in 18k gold, square Kundan rings and delicateblue sapphire rings that look like flowers.
- Machteld Schrameyer, who now lives in Kentucky, designs elegant peplum jackets, swing coats and couture pieces.
- Kate Beck, a New Orleans designer, creates elegant garments by dying, felting and screen printing on natural fiber textiles. Her designs are heavily influenced by her early years in the Pacific Northwest, where she explored rich terrains and collected nature’s trinkets.
- Starr Hagenbring is the owner of Art 7 Eyes, a fashion boutique in New Orleans. Known for her lux jackets, and custom-designed eyeglasses, she’s also a longtime artist and fashion designer who has created award-winning costumes and set designs for a wide range of productions.
