St. Luke’s Wood River welcomed its first baby of the new year on Jan. 4.
Logan Kai Shelamer arrived at 9:50 a.m. that day weighing eight pounds 15 ounces. He’s 20.5 inches long.
Logan is the son of Mike and Amanda Shelamer. Amanda said he is the fourth child she has given birth to and that all the babies were born on Saturdays.
St. Luke’s Wood River delivered 157 babies during 2019 versus 186 in 2018. The first baby of the new year is typically born between Day One and Day 10, said hospital spokesperson Joy Prudek.
New Year’s babies born at St. Luke’s receive a St. Luke’s onesie and receiving blanket. This year St. Luke’s Wood River Volunteer Board also provided a gift basket.
