Higher Ground Sun Valley will mark its 20th year with its annual Supper Club benefit at The Argyros Performing Arts Center.
The Supper Club will take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, and will include cocktails and dinner.
Higher Ground’s Members Only Club, a weekly recreation group for adults with cognitive disabilities, will pass appetizers around and mingle with attendees. Others who benefit from Higher Ground’s therapeutic recreation programs will share their inspiring stories as the evening progresses.
There will be a live auction with packages that include tandem paragliding and a family trail ride. And there will be a silent auction.
Higher Ground started in 1999 as Sun Valley Adaptive Sports—a program teaching people with disabilities how to use adaptive skis. It has expanded to include summer programs and to include recreational therapists and mental health professionals who can offer Higher Ground’s participants the emotional and social tools they need to feel like they belong.
Funds raised during the evening will go to these Higher Ground programs, which are designed to give people of all abilities a better life and bridge the gap between disability and belonging.
“After the Supper Club happens, people tell us, ‘We never knew Higher Ground did all of that!’ ” said Erin Rheinschild, Higher Ground’s director of philanthropy. “It has become a great night to raise awareness of the wide range of programs Higher Ground is involved in.”
The evening is hosted by Sandor Szombathy, Jackie Flanigan, Lisa Griffith and Penny Weiss.
