Stock up on your Valentine’s cards with one-of-a-kind cards made by local artists when Ketchum artist Sharon Payne Bolton stages a special “Inside the Envelope, A Show of Cards” event.
Bolton will hold the pop-up card show Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7-8 at her studio at 141 Northwood Way, No. 1, in Ketchum’s light industrial district. Shopping will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Among the artists is Marjolaine Renfro, who has made an art out of repurposing cards.
Her interest started with her father, she said, who was always finding materials that he piled on the kitchen table for his four children to create with in the days before Michael’s craft store.
“As immigrants, we didn’t have much money—he may have been the first recycler,” she said.
Now Renfro is still creating with found books, repurposed cards and strokes from her watercolor brush. All highly imaginative, she will even take custom orders to announce things like the birth of a baby.
Other artists in the show include Noli Burge, Mary Ann Chubb, Tina Cole, Melissa Graves Brown, Alison Higden, Cindy Hamlin, Tisa McCombs, Marcy Mitchell and Virginia Simpson.
All cards will be priced under $20. And there will be chocolate and libations.
