At long last, it’s time to belly up to a tub of buttered popcorn and see the fruits of those movie previews you may have been watching on the telly all summer.
Magic Lantern Cinemas is ready to reopen with the long-awaited thriller “Unhinged” starring Russell Crowe and—gasp!—“Tenet.”
And—get this—tickets for all shows are $5 Friday through Sunday as an expression of gratitude to the community for its support during the theater’s five-month closure during COVID.
“Unhinged” will kick the fun off with its first showing at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28. “Unhinged” is a psychological thriller that takes road rage to an unpredictable and terrifying conclusion. Crowe is said to be menacing and intimidating both in talent and girth.
Also showing for three days only is the 1961 Academy Award-winning classic “West Side Story,” alongside “Bill and Ted Face the Music” with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will also debut Friday.
You already know about the star-crossed lovers Maria and Tony and the Jets and the Sharks that spell their doom.
“Bill & Ted Face the Music” follows the two now middle-aged best friends on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it.
“Tenet,” which has been the talk of the film world all summer, is scheduled to make its debut at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31.
“Tenet” stars Kenneth Branagh, John David Washington, Michael Caine and others in a story of a Protagonist who journeys through a world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time.
The long-awaited film was postponed three times this summer as movie producers awaited AMC and other movie theater chains to reopen.
Also showing: “The New Mutants,” which features Magik, Wolfsbane and other teenage mutants trying to come to grips with their newly discovered superpowers while being held in a secret facility against their will.
Coming soon: “The Personal History of David Copperfield” and “Made in Italy.”
The Magic Lantern has reduced seating capacity to accommodate social distancing. Moviegoers are required to wear masks while moving through the lobby. They may lower their masks once seated.
