Alasdair Neale will ponder how well classical music tackles the weighty issues of life, death and other aspects of life on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
The music director of the Sun Valley Music Festival will ask the age-old question of whether art imitates life or whether life imitates art during an Upbeat with Alasdair talk at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9. The admission-free event, titled “The Big Picture,” will be presented in partnership with The Community Library.
“I’m looking forward to sharing some thoughts as to how classical music is particularly well-positioned to tackle the weighty issues of life, death, love, and other questions surrounding the human condition,” he said.
Neale will share musical excerpts from classical music’s most profound works and he will field questions and answers during the presentation, which will be livestreamed from his home in San Francisco.
Viewers can access it on the festival’s website at svmusicfestival.org, the YouTube channel at youtube.com/c/SunValleyMusicFestival or on The Community Library website at livestream.com/comlib.
