Sun Valley’s “Starship” made the Wall Street Journal this weekend.

The 12,500-square foot property south of Bellevue on Gannett Road is on the market for $9.95 million.

The concrete, steel and glass building is made of reclaimed antique wood from the 1800s. It’s prow-like protrusion over its entry way makes it look like a starship from the air. That said, it was originally intended to look like a cruise ship.

The home, which sits on 8.1 acres, at 30 Cheval Circle was partially built from 2006 to 2009 and completed by its current owner in 2019. It’s located on a manmade pond and has a hydronic heated interior with more than 13,000 square feet of heated garages, stairways, decks and a concert arena space.

It boasts five bedrooms and five full bathrooms.

Additional custom features:

  • An Olympic-length rooftop pool that cantilevers over the entrance to the home.
  • A 40-foot diameter circular bar on the third level overlooking the open kitchen and living room below.
  • A round 12-foot metal sprocket once used in a Montana mine to bring up copper ore to the surface.
  • An outside deck with hot tub.
  • A metal elevator cage with antique flooring replicated from a Parisian design using reclaimed steel from Colorado that accesses each of the five levels including the rooftop pool.
  • Two blue-green wood and steel sliding doors leading to the primary bedroom suite that are from India and date to the mid-1600s.
  • A gym with eleven floor-to-ceiling glass windows offering views overlooking the pond and Pioneer Mountain foothills.
  • Two steel mooring buoys that are 7 feet in diameter and came from World War I ships.

The property was recently listed by Lisa Squires, who is affiliated with the Sun Valley office of Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties.

“The home is understated, yet artful, rustic and refined all at the same time. The unique architecture and the backdrop of the mountains within the valley make it a rare lifestyle for the next homeowners to behold,” she said.
