Betsy Gaines Quammen will share her findings about the increasing trend of radicalization in the West during a free talk at 6 p.m. tonight—Tuesday, Nov. 30—at The Community Library.
She is also expected to discuss how communities in the West, including Ketchum and Sun Valley, responded to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Quammen spoke about her book “American Zion: Cliven Bundy, God and Public Lands in the West” in May 2020 while in residency at the Ernest and Mary Hemingway House and Preserve. She is back working on a new book, “True West: Sorting Realities on the Far Side of America,” as the Jack Grove Writer-in-Residence.
Those who wish to attend in person should register at https://thecommunitylibrary.libcal.com/event/8114124. Proof of vaccination and a mask will be required. The event will also be livestreamed and available for later viewing at https://www.comlib.org.
Quammen is a historian and conservationist who received a doctorate in Environmental History from Montana State University in 2017. Her dissertation focused on Mormon settlement and public land conflicts. She lives in Bozeman, Mont.
